An effective treatment plan must begin with diagnosing the cause of your pain – that’s why you’ll undergo an in-depth examination as the first step to getting back to doing what you love.

The specific cause of back pain can be tricky to diagnose – a spinal condition, nerve issues or even a hip or knee problem can cause back pain.

Our team of specialists has years of experience in diagnosing and treating back pain.

Your Medical History

A thorough history-taking is essential for determining the cause of your symptoms. In the case of severe injuries or more chronic conditions, it also helps your doctor understand the impact the condition has on your life, work, activity level, mood and relationships.

Our clinic asks that you complete all patient paperwork prior to the first appointment, to help optimize your time with the doctor.

At subsequent visits, an abbreviated form is required so that your doctor can ascertain if your condition has changed and what treatments have been completed or are ongoing.

It is important to list any other medical changes since your last visit, even if the condition is seemingly unrelated.

Examination

A thorough and complete physical examination will unveil seemingly unrelated conditions that either cause or exacerbate your primary symptom.

In addition to a physical exam, we may utilize advanced imaging and diagnostic testing to help determine the cause of your back pain.

Diagnostic Testing

We also utilize a wide range of diagnostic exams, tests and advanced procedures to determine the cause of your back pain.

The location of your exam depends on the type of exam; locations include Diagnostic Imaging at EvergreenHealth Medical Center and satellite locations operated by medical imaging partner, Radia.
